In 1989, Mark Woodward was diagnosed with Crohn’s after undergoing emergency surgery. Although he enjoyed many years of remission, in 2003, he faced yet another major surgery. Over the years, Mark has had times of remission and times of severe pain and constant symptoms.
The Woodward Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation (WCCF) was founded in 2012 by Gisele and Mark Woodward.
The WCCF was inspired after both of their kids were diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). In October of 2011, their son, Jack, was diagnosed with Crohn’s at the age of 8. In February of 2012, their daughter, Kristina, was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis at the age of 10.
The Woodward Family are in constant vigilance to manage their IBD conditions. Currently, there is no known cause or cure for IBD. They wish that through their Foundation and alternative treatment (non-pharmaceutical) research, they can be enjoy remission and ultimately find a cure.
